BL-45, Light Barrier

Passive Oil Barrier, vertical (Containment Barrier), floaters vertically arranged

The BL-45 is an easy to handle and light weight item at very low volume. The 12 m accordion like folded segments reach a dimension of 45 cm x 70 cm x 45 cm and can be easily transported in a storage bag (accessory). The low profile of the product allows on one hand to let the water flow beneath the barrier and flow off, on the other hand the wind force, acting on the freeboard, will be decreased. The barrier BL-45 consists of stable polyester fabric. By applying a PVC mixture on both sides long-term durability with high breaking strength is ensured. The simple and effective coupling system for the barrier segment parts prevents the intrusion of oil and hydrocarbon particles around the segment connections. Since the floating elements are embedded in fabric the product shows on both sides an even surface without gaps. Polluting foreign parts can slide along and the barrier can be cleaned easily.

Application
Thanks to its technical features and a well balanced price/performance ratio the BL-45 is a product which offers a great bandwidth. That makes it most suitable for mobile use (e.g. for the fire brigade). The barrier is especially usable in streams, rivers and canals.

Technical Information BL-45

This version of the BL-45 is intended for lengthening an existing base element. To this aim, the lengthening element is connected to the base element using the wing nuts supplied.

Instruction for installation

Remove the shackles (1 x big, 1 x small) on one side of the base element. The lengthening element is fixed on this side by means of the 3 wing nuts. You have a total number of 4 holes on the plate for interconnecting elements. The wing nuts are inserted through each of the three upper holes, a big shackle is attached to the lower hole in order to fasten into it anchor and ballasts. The two remaining shackles (1 x big, 1 x small) are respectively fixed at the new end of the barrier. This allows the segment to be secured by rope again.
