Are there test certificates, industrial-medical assessments, etc., assuring use of ICE & DUST-AWAY products in Germany ?
The ICE & DUST-AWAY products of the company NORDISK Aluminat were labelled with the Nordic Eco-label THE SWAN on March 18th, 2004. Through this Eco-label the harmlessness of a product is guaranteed by conducting comprehensive tests on a multitude of environmental impacts and by complying with tight threshold values.

Is it known for sure that ICE & DUST-AWAY doesnt damage rubber seals, etc., in
tankers ?
During the long-time and regular utilization of ICE & DUST-AWAY in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Klagenfurt no damage was observed to the vehicles and tankers used for the operations.
Is it known for sure that the abrasion resistance of tyres on roadways - treated with ICE & DUST-AWAY - will not change negatively ?
During the long-time and regular utilization of ICE & DUST-AWAY in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Klagenfurt no damage was observed to tyres e.g. of public transport vehicles or private vehicles.
Is it known for sure that the vehicle brake performance on roadways - treated with ICE & DUST-AWAY - will not change negatively ?
During a skid resistance test in New Zealand comprehensive measurements were conducted on several road pavements under different weather conditions after having applied CMA. Since CMA is poured as a fluid solution onto the road surface, the grip of the wet carriageway can decrease by 65 up to 85% and so the braking distance of a vehicle can increase by up to 50%. Furthermore, the study showed that, once the CMA solution has dried, the grip of the treated road surface is the same as that of an untreated dry road. Treated roads must be appropriately signposted and equipped with warning signs.
Is it known for sure that CMA, along with particulate matter, will cause no ecological damage to sewer systems and to sewage treatment plants?
Unlike chloride-containing products, CMA products have no known negative environmental impact. CMA has no toxic effects on the microorganisms of the treatment plants, but rather acts as readily biodegradable nutrient.
Is it known for sure that the use of ICE & DUST-AWAY will induce no corrosion damage ?
According to a study conducted by the Minnesota Department of Transportation on August, 2001 the corrosion caused by CMA lies within the range of the control sample with pure water, i.e. the corrosive effect of CMA corresponds to the effect of pure water.
The answer regarding Typical questions about the use of ICE & DUST-AWAY on iron and metals CMA lies within the acceptance criterions has to be more exactly defined.
In 1993, an investigation of the Federal Highway Administration run by Dr. Ugo Bertocci established that CMA has a passivating effect, i.e. it has corrosion-inhibiting properties, on mortar-rebar systems. For this reason, along with chloride-containing products, it reduces the corrosive behaviour of deicer salt by up to 80%.
Use in the testing phase
During the testing phase of ICE & DUST-AWAY, NORDISK/RAW will advise local and municipal authorities on the technical application of the product.
